From the belt filter press to the plate settler clarifier, there are many ways in which we can help to purify our water sources. After all, our water sources are nothing if not hugely important. We need water for just about every aspect of our lives, from staying hydrated to growing food. Without water, the typical human being will die in only a couple of days, though we can survive without food for much longer.
But water is scarcer than many people realize, especially considering that our planet is primarily made up of water. But that’s salt water, and what we need is fresh, drinkable water, which only makes up about three percent of all the water on this planet. In addition to this, only around one percent of all this freshwater is actually considered to be drinkable.
Fortunately, the use of water treatment systems like the belt filter press and oil and water separator can be used throughout wastewater treatment facilities to provide us with access to the clean and healthy drinking water that we are so very much in need of. These wastewater treatment facilities conduct a number of varying operations, all through the use of tools like the typical belt filter press, the belt press system (using the belt filter press, of course) and other such water equipment to help to clean out our wastewater and make it safe again for human consumption.
Typically, the role of a wastewater treatment facility focuses on a number of different processes to fully clean the water in the way that it should be. Suspended solids must be removed from wastewater, of course, and this is typically done through the use of dissolved air flotation systems. These dissolved air flotation systems are also ideal for removing oils and greases from water sources as well, such as oils and greases that might be put down a garbage disposal or washed off of a cooking pan, among other sources of them too. Finally, dissolved air flotation systems can remove the biochemical oxygen demand, something crucial to remove from wastewater as well, though it is perhaps less known that this is the case.
With everything from water treatment products to the belt filter press to tools used in a water oil separator system, the typical wastewater treatment plant will consume quite a bit of energy on a daily basis as it works to make our wastewater usable again. This energy usage is divided up among a number of different places. Typically, the pumping systems alone will consume as much as fifteen percent of all energy usage at the typical wastewater treatment plant, and no less than ten percent.
In addition to this, no less than twenty five percent of all energy gets used by the aeration process that goes on in the plant. Sometimes, this amount of energy can even climb to be as much as sixty percent, give or take. And this is a good thing too, as the aeration process is very much important, as it works to break down the organic matter found in most wastewater sources and something that certainly can’t remain in wastewater as it is processed and, ultimately, purified. Other energy goes to various places, such as the belt filter press and other systems that are integral to the functioning of the plant, but this is the main function and is devoted the majority of the energy used, as can be seen clearly in the data that has been gathered about it.
Of course, the maintenance of these wastewater treatment plants is also important, especially as many of them begin to age. In fact, up to half of all wastewater treatment plants in this country alone will have reached or even surpassed the midpoint of their lives by the time that we reach the year of 2020, now only just about one year away as we currently reach the tail end of the year of 2018. Regular servicing and maintenance can help to keep these aging wastewater facilities in good shape for as long as is possible, though ultimately it is true that they will need to be replaced.
