Are you planning to create an office or studio work space? Then why not explore your options with new storage containers for sale. According to major design and workspace construction firm, Jacobs, the average workstation has actually shrunk over the past 2 decades. In 1992, for example, an individual workstation was 80 square feet. Just last year, this workspace decreased to about 39 square feet.

You’ll be interested to know that when you regularly maintain your shipping container space, Container Auction reported that it can have a lifespan of 20 years. Furthermore, when you buy used shipping containers, you’ll be making an important contribution to the environment. This is because every shipping container that is reused and re-purposed is basically recycling the equivalent of 3,500 kilograms of steel. Bricks, mortar, wood, and other traditional building materials are also being saved when you go this route. What’s more is that it takes considerably less time to modify a shipping container than it does to build a house or office.

To give you an idea of the available space you’ll have, a standard TEU container is able to hold about 3,500 shoe boxes. If you choose a 40-foot-high cube, however, these can hold over 8,000 shoe boxes. Given the reduction in work station space, this should be more than enough to accommodate your home office or studio.

Given that there are roughly 17 million shipping containers in existence, it’s amazing to note that just 6 million of these are being used. This means that there are 11 million unused shipping containers available. In addition to pop-up stores, home offices, and other types of workspaces, these steel sipping containers can also be turned into homes.

When you explore your options for new storage containers for sale, remember that you can have a variety of interior custom modifications made. If you’re planning to have your storage container transformed into a tiny house, for example, consider these and other modifications:

  • Doors
  • Windows
  • Skylights
  • Climate control
  • Shelving
  • Interior and exterior painting

It’s also important to note that you can group several of these containers together to create a more elaborate home or workspace. When you have a large lot or several acres of land, these containers can expand your existing live-work space or be transformed into guest houses as well as additional storage space, complete with built-in shelves and cupboards.
